How do I repair my HP laptop power cord?
It is an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC and I bumped it a couple times. Now it doesn't connect all the time and when it does, it is when I put pressure on it in different directions. I am sure the plug isn't connecting and I am wondering if I can open it up and connect it again. A new one would cost me $90 so please help!
A-Best: It is clearly not your laptop charger. It is your DC jack (the location where the power cord connects to your laptop). The reason why you need to put it into a certain position and/or apply pressure is because the DC jack is loose and needs repairing. If you want to fix it yourself it will run you a couple of dollars. If you take it into a computer repair store, it will be about 50-100 dollars depending on the computer repair stores labor costs.
I would suggest taking it into a store because if you try to do it yourself, it might not be a good idea.
There is a small possibility its your charger though. Less than a 5% chance actually.
If you are thinking about purchasing a new laptop charger, I would highly recommend http://www.topmic.com/. They provide free shipping and free lifetime warranties on all their products, as well as a 30 day money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied with it. The lifetime warranty is the best part since you don't need to worry about buying a new one if it breaks.
