why is it in this age of computers I can not find out about social security benifits paid to me 35 years ago?
When I was 16 I had received SSD now the gov says that I didn't. How do I prove them to be the lires that I know they are?
A-Best: Find your paperwork. They didn't have computers then.
A: Those Hollerith cards were trashed long ago.
A: See if you have any bank statements from back then
A: sweetie- 35 yrs ago there were no computer records so everything then is on paper and in files soemwhere in a warehouse or possibly destroyed already
A: There weren't any computers or computerized social security records 35 years ago. I doubt they have bothered to computerize those records.
Even with a more modern case, you would not be able to access your Social Security Records online. There are major privacy issues involved.
Dig up your own paperwork. If you do not have it or cannot find it you will have to make a trip to your nearest Social Security Office and request that they dig up the proper records. Ask some questions about how it would have been filed. If you were a minor, it may be filed under a parent or guardian's SSN.
A: It is probably under your parents' names.
