If a Credit Card is in collections?
Does the company usually call from a 1800#, because I received a phone call from a collector, claiming to be from Citi Bank, and when I *96 him, the call came form a cell phone 347-281-7499, is this a scam?
A-Best: collectors know you wont answer a 800,866,or877 number. some do use cell phones. never pick up if you dont know who it is. never ever.
A: When I was receiving calls from a collection agency not all of their numbers were 800. Is your Citi Bank account whatever it is behind in payments. This could be a number from the company or collection agency. You can pull your credit report and see if it has been turned over for collections. If in collections they should send you a letter so you can find out who they are. If turned over to collections, then you would send a debt validation letter. There are some collection agencies that are scams, so that is why you should send a debt validation letter.
A: Creditors have called me from cell phones lots of times. I guess it's there way of getting people to answer the phone.
