Help, True.com charged me $49.99 during my 3-day trial what should I do when I call them?
I gave them my credit card info for age verification purposes on July 10, 2009 and I was charged the monthly fee of $49.99 the day after. My 3-day trial doesn't end until July 13th. Their terms and conditions state:
Upon the completion of your Trial period you will be automatically billed for the following subscriptions through True.com:
* A full paying subscription to True.com at a rate of $49.99 per month plus applicable taxes.
I want my money back, when I call them tomorrow (because there offices are closed) what should I have ready and what should I tell them?
A-Best: First call them and tell them you were charged before the end of your trial. They will probably refund your money right there. Most Credit card companies want you to try contacting the merchant before filing a dispute.
If they don't refund you, file a dispute with your credit card company. If they charge you again repeat the process. Every chargeback costs them money, so they'll stop before long.
A: Call and cancel you subscription. If you cancel it on time then you should get your $49.99 back
A: Dispute the charge with your credit card company first. File a fraudulent charge report and personally, I would not talk to anyone at True. They have your money, but if you insist on calling them instead of your credit card number:
1. Get the full name of the person you speak to.
2. Make a note of the time you are calling from your location.
3. Contact your credit card company's dispute department with the information you are given.
A: Well if you have yet to resolve this then you are stuck with the fee's. A tip is that you should read the fine print. If they state money back if cancel before trial period ends then you are covered. All sites give you the option to cancel membership while being logged into the site. Here is the trick part, actually locating the cancel membership button. I had to call to have it done for me. Turns out through experian you have to go through five pages to locate the button.
