will i be overstaying if i marry a US citizen before my I-94 departure card expires?
my civil wedding will be this weekend may 17. My I-94 departure card expires on June 2 2009. I am just concerned if this means after we are married I have to go back home. Will i be able to stay here in the US after we are married or does that mean that i have to go back home since i am only allowed till june 2?
A-Best: Technically, you have to go home since your visa ends June 2. However, if you file your green card application on May 18, you should get the receipt for that by the end of June, so you will have overstayed by less than 30 days which is kinda okay.
