What's the difference between I-90 West in South Dakota and I-94 West in North Dakota?
I am going out this way this summer and would like to know. I already know about the Badlands and Back Hills along I-90 and Theodore Roosevelt National Park along I-94. What is the scenery, traffic, and weather like along both of these routes?
A-Best: The weather should be fairly similar this Summer: Hot and Sunny, typically.
.
Traffic: I think I-90 is a bit busier than I-94, but not horribly so...and it's busier for good reason...
.
Scenery: I-94 is the most boring stretch of highway that I have ever traveled. When I was younger I went on a bus trip with a marching band along both routes. The most exciting thing about I-94 was looking for the occasional tree among endless fields of flat land. *yawn* If you have a choice, and you want scenic driving along the way, or someplace interesting to stop at (black hills, caves, Badlands, Rushmore, Wall drug, etc)...take I-90.
A: I agree with Katie, I-90 is your route!! Make sure you stop at WALL Drugs, the worlds biggest drug store in the middle of nowhere (you will see signs for 200 miles before you get there), the badlands, Mt Rushmore and spend a night in Deadwood... Also, if you are a Harley lover, make sure you stop at Sturgis just to say you have been there. Remember that I-90 dead ends into I-94 once you get into Wyoming..
Enjoy your trip...
